Kudos to Rick Stanley ... a real man

I want to express my thanks to Rick Stanley of Stanley Fasteners ...located in the Denver, CO metro area.  He has contributed much to my life and to that of others.  He has believed in the concept of individual freedom.  He supported the Libertarian Party.  He was ( and I presume is ) a defender of the little guy vs the bullies of the world.

I will be posting more material at this posting as I gather it.

Religion and Public life in America

R.R. Reno has recently been published in Imprimis Magazine.

His article was entitled Religion and Public life in America....   Reno argues that religion ( and specifically Christianity ) should be free from government inspection and intervention.  I could not agree more.  Reno does not believe individuals should be free..... he believes that public life should be organized by smart people and that it should direct the actions of individuals.  And who could be smarter than he ?   So he believes that religion should have a special place in everyone's life.  And the government should enforce this cultural bias.

I on the other hand... believe that all religious driven actions should be allowed... as long as they don't violate someone else's freedom and property rights.  I believe that all non-religious driven actions should be allowed... as long as they don't violate someone else's freedom and property rights.  See the similarity ?

Churches should not be taxed.  Individuals should not be taxed.  Religiousers should be allowed to ingest sacred chemicals and beat themselves with sticks.  Individuals should be allowed to ingest chemicals and beat themselves with sticks. 

I also believe that children are NOT property and should have the same rights as adults.  This makes for some tricky situations.  No one should be brainwashed for the first 12-16 years of their life.

Following up on our discussion of last evening regarding state crowdfunding exemption initiatives, set forth below is a very important link to a webpage containing a map which indicates which states already have crowdfunding exemptions on a regulatory, but not statutory, basis, as well as those states where legislation which would permit crowdfunding is currently pending.

I, along with many others, believe the final solution to making crowdfunding successful is local investing in local businesses, ultimately followed up by having a state's legislature permit the creation of a secondary market, i.e., stock exchange, limited to the trading of locally-issued securities, thereby ensuring at least a some modicum of liquidity (i.e., ability to sell) for those adventurous enough to make investments in local businesses.

Taking power back in the capital formation area from the very large interests on the coasts (and their proxies locally) that currently dominate our economy is, in my view, essential to restoring economic health to the U.S. economy.  If this can only be done one state at a time, so be it.  However it gets done, it, again in my opinion, needs to get done.

I can imagine how many people enjoyed the creativity of creating this campaign.  [ Note: this is announcing a new spur of light rail service... from Downtown going west. ]  So there is a light-hearted aspect to this event.

I think about unintended consequences and opportunity costs.  I think about the taxpayers who have had more opportunities snatched out of their hands.  I think about the morality of government stealing from productive individuals.  I think of the hubris of government entities.

I think that it was wrong to for the Denver Metro government entity to do this.  It is sort of entertaining watching the disintegration of the American dream.  Sort of.
