#OpenIP What I think it is

OpenIP   Open Intellectual Property

OpenIP is the open sharing of information so that software can be written , products can designed and built.  It is not a new paradigm... but is has a new visibility in the brave new world of the Internet.   This includes .....   ( and is not limited to )

Open Source Software
     sourceforg.net

Open Hardware
     http://www.oshwa.org/
     https://upverter.com/     32,000 designs

Open Manufacturing

Open Journal

Open Design Tools

     www.blender.org

Stuff may be shared under various licenses to encourage further sharing or the stuff may be simply Public Domain. I apologize for the many sources of OpenIP I have missed.

What it is not ....
== Some of the software libraries are open source and the rest of the code is secret.
== Licensed patents
== Future promises to share important data
== items that are copyrighted
== Lots of hype that conceals a hidden agenda of stingy sharing
== Software where one version is free to the public

To:   Companies , Organizations and Individuals ..
    Tell the truth
If you are dedicated to proprietary methods and data... that is fine... please be *open* about your stance.  Marketing hype that pretends to openess   or customer service  or valuing employees  .... and does not  ==> that really sucks     Hidden charges ==> sucks

OpenIP Projects
( I do not warrant these are actually *open*.  I often am fooled by slick palaver. )
OpenSCAD
bitseed meshbox
Open Office
Project Libre

Projects that are pretending to be *Open*
Project Ara by Google   this project is sharing a lot of really great technology information...... but Google is trying to hold back key stuff in order to assert control.

Best Little Hardware Store in Denver Closes

Best Little Hardware Store in Denver

Tennyson Hardware Store Appreciation ( THSA ) day is April 4th , Friday , 10AM until end of day.  Come over and sign the big appreciation card.  There will be a limited amount of "appreciation cake ".  Bring some snacks or drinks if you wish , no obligation , see you there.  The closing will take 8 weeks , so I may schedule another goodbye.

Open from 1917 until April 1st , 2014 , Tennyson Hardware is the best hardware store I ever had the privilege to shop at.  Located at 40th and Tennyson ( 4034 Tennyson ) ( 39.772389,-105.043912 ) , it was originally called Clark's Hardware.  Owned by Larry Kort , it was staffed by friendly and helpful people.  It had a little of everything.  I based a lot of DIY projects on what I found at Tennyson.   Thanks, Larry

History
If you have some history related to this store , please post here or send an email to THS.history@nope9.com  ( photos , gossip , history , reminiscing )

NEXT Problem   2014m03d15
Now Walmart and I are hassling over a warranty issue ( 2 versus 3 years )
Here is the text of my online review.....

I was told when I purchased the 2 year coverage that it began when the manufacturer's coverage ended.  The manufacturer warrants 1 year so I expected year 2 and 3 to be covered by Walmart.  Now I am being told this is not true.  Worse yet is that Walmart is not responding to my emails.  I will have to trudge into Walmart and waste more time.

I sent the following message to Walmart and have not received an acknowledgement.
#1    I never choose to use the phone and wait on hold forever ... or get transferred many times.  I always want to use an online option ... that is easy to find , knows who I am ( I have a logon account that I used ).

#2  Why doesn't *this* feedback form use my account information ?

#3  If I go to Customer Service at a store, I want them to use my online account to sort out problems , issue refunds , reorder stuff.  Customer Service is too slow.  Some of it can be done while I am waiting in line using WiFi.

#4  It would be great to set up my visit to *online pickup* ahead of time so that I can just go to customer service and grab my item.  *Online Pickup* is often a "ghost town" .... nobody there.

I have not received any response from Walmart other than promotional emails suggesting I spend more money at Walmart..  Truly parts of their customer service are simply awful.

I bought a hard drive from Walmart and they promised free shipping via Fedex.  Then I learned that the last leg of the delivery was via USPS.  As you know may know, USPS is not the brightest light bulb in town.  My package disappeared into limbo for several days and then luckily re-emerged at my door.  I used to love the idea of buying online from Walmart.  But I have not been pleased the last few times.
