Revenue Collection Zone

Have you ever passed through a road construction site or past a school and seen the dreaded words "Fines are Doubled" ?   In Denver, Colorado this means that an easily committed infraction will cost you many dollars.  Probably many hundreds of dollars.

These DoubleZones are simply to collect money from suckers ... err ... motorists.  No public safety or other concerns are served.

There is a zone at 42nd Ave. and Lowell Blvd.   The signs announcing the zone are easily missed.   This is front of school... at least I think it is school.  I have never seen a child crossing the street... and I have passed this way at least 40 times.

This is just another reason I would love to see politicians consigned to sweeping sidewalks and kept away from interfering with productive life.

Here is a  story you may find amusing.  At the 42nd and Lowell location , the revenuers set up a radar van to snap photos of licenses and scoop up the revenue.  I went out with a large sign and stood upwind of the speed trap.   The sign told motorists to watch out for the speed trap ahead.  Some motorists honked and waved.  A few motorists flipped me off.  One man came out of his house and asked ( in a rather unfriendly way ) for me to leave.  He said I was undermining a lawful and peaceful society.  I have para-phrased his words.  His words were somewhat ruder.
