If you have not already heard, the Colorado Senate has rejected HB 1261, the unreasonable DUID bill that could have resulted in sober marijuana consumers being criminalized for "driving under the influence."

Just a day earlier, some legislators said the bill would surely pass, so there is little doubt that this movement's collective voice and action played a major role in this victory. Despite an aggressive lobbying effort by law enforcement, a majority of senators ultimately recognized the bill was going too far and too fast, and put a stop to it before it could cause any damage.

You can find out more about the bill and the events leading up to its defeat in this story that appeared in today's Denver Post.

Thank you to everyone who contacted members of the Senate yesterday, as well as to all the organizations who worked together to prevent this unreasonable bill from becoming law in Colorado.

US awards $2bn for high-speed rail upgrades

The US government has awarded $2bn (£1.2bn) for high-speed rail in critical corridors, after Florida's Republican governor declined the funds.

The projects will boost rail services between Washington DC to Boston, as well as in the mid-west and California.

Florida Governor Rick Scott cancelled a high-speed rail project in his state, fearing taxpayers there would have to subsidise the project in the future.

President Barack Obama has made expanding rail services a priority.

"These projects will put thousands of Americans to work, save hundreds of thousands of hours for American travellers every year, and boost US manufacturing by investing hundreds of millions of dollars in next-generation, American-made locomotives and rail cars," Vice-President Joe Biden said in a statement released by the Department of Transportation.

====== Obama and his cronies love to come up with a "big vision" and damn the pricetag or the Constitution. Where in the Constitution does it suggest buying expensive choo-choos ?

Sadly Lizard Brains will win ( lose ) in Egypt

I had held out hope that some great things might happen in Egypt...

It looks like my hopes were very silly... Religious thought will trump reason and reflection. Mad dogs and Muslims ( and Xtians ) will abandon all higher brain functions and spread hate and destruction.

==At least five people have been killed and dozens more wounded during clashes between Muslims and Christians in Cairo, Egyptian officials say.

The clashes - in the suburb of Imbaba - came after Muslims attacked a church to free a Christian woman, witnesses said.

They alleged she was being held against her will because she wanted to convert to Islam.

Soldiers and police, backed by tanks, fired guns and tear gas to separate the groups, according to reports.

Eyewitnesses said some 500 conservative Muslims - known as Salafists - gathered at the Coptic Saint Mena Church in the northwestern Cairo suburb demanding to take custody of the woman.

Why keep searching ? .... dead bodies have little value

Rescuers in Mexico have pulled a ninth body from the remains of a coal mine destroyed in an explosion in the north of the country.

A total of 14 miners were trapped underground when a gas blast shook the vertical-shaft mine on Tuesday.

Miners had been taking turns to dig away at the rubble but officials now say there is no hope anyone survived.

The pit is situated near the site of one of the country's worst mining disasters, in San Juan de Sabinas.

Sixty five men died there in 2006.

"I'll bring up my son's body in pieces if I have to," said one miner, Adolfo Gonzalez, as he rested after searching for the remaining bodies.

Labour Secretary Javier Lozano has pledged to recover the remaining bodies from the Sabinas mine.

"We need more hands on deck, we need more people," he said, promising to pay those who took part in rescue efforts from now on.

I cannot be associated with this insane nation: America

Please...... there is no way I support the nutty, cruel, arrogant actions carried out by the USG ( United States Government ). I hate you a**hole media types who conflate America with the USG. It is not true. I disavow any connection with Obama, Bush, earlier presidents and all their flunkies. The parallels to Nazi Germany are mind destroying. The Lizard Brain mentality is horrific. It is an ugly version of the 'King of Hearts' movie.

I cannot stand much more of it.
