to query your summary ....... what is YOUR solution..???? ..... mine is to let individuals choose the money they want to use..... I would not let the government be involved..... the USG is staffed by idiots. If individuals want to trade using gold... fine.... trade using bitcoin... fine.... trade using shells.... fine ... use private bank issued currency .... fine It is the moral way to conduct business ......... government has no obligation or authority to attempt to *fix* the economy ..... plus what economy should the USG fix ? Mine ? Yours ? Colorado ? East coast ? Steel manufacturers ? Greece ? ??????
The US government has an incredibly bad track record for intervening in economies and political systems. Nearly every intervention involved lots of innocent victims...... deaths, destruction of infrastructure, loss of homes , torture , ..... the list of bad acts goes on and on.....
