Authoritarian *experts* are the bomb ... did they find a WMD ?

Russian teen charged with possessing weapon of mass destruction, Pennsylvania authorities say    click here    or here

( I would like to help this kid.  Any suggestions are appreciated. )

Reporters dutifully *echoParrot* the official story of 19 year old.... in Altoona, PA

Vladislav Miftakhov must be guilty (sarcasm)

Consider:
#1 he is a teen
#2 he is Russian
#3 bomb experts expertly and safely defuse the thing.
#4 he purportedly smokes mary jane ( or has seedlings )
#5 he is Russian and a teenager
#6 he has blemished skin
#7 his name is hard to pronounce
#8 he has weird hair
#9 Mayor Pacifico said the city had "quite a scare."
#10 he is a rooshun
#11 Neighbor says he is *the weirdest human*

My Zeus !   .... i am awaiting more details .... when I was in High School  40+ years ago .... I and my friend made pipe bombs & rockets and  pellet gun machine pistols. He was a genius.  We made them because we had high IQs and thought it was fun.  We were sort of careful.  Yes, we were assholes.  We were not terrorists.  The devices were not WMDs. Yes, we smoked marijuana.  not much.  We drank beer.  not much.   It is often a matter of perspective.

Lucky for us it was 40 years ago.  Today if we did this , we would be tracked down ( the bombs made lots of noise and big holes ) and arrested.  The bomb squad would butt slap each other. We would be put in a mental institution.  The mayor would blow hot air.    What a crock.

I feel really sorry for Vlad.... he is on a kangaroo railroad to hell.  But what the hell.... he is a Russian.

2014m01d27 update....
News here

Neighbor says VM is "weirdest human he knows"
' My dad has said about me  " He is too weird for me"
According to a criminal complaint, police found one pound of atomized magnesium and one pound of Chinese potassium perchlorate along with a package labeled potassium nitrate powder. They also found fuses and several containers of compressed air.
When asked what he was going to do with two devices that were found with exposed fuses, Miftakhov said "he was going to blow things up," the complaint alleges.
Miftakhov later said he only intended to set devices off in a field and wasn't going to blow anything up, the document says.
Very similar to what my friend and I did many years ago.
Authorities found five marijuana seedlings and a grow light, the complaint says.
Mary Jane....... How many people smoke that ?
For my perspective.... I refer you to the Alan Bates film .... *King of Hearts*   Guess who Plumpick is ... guess who the authorities are

2014m01d28 update   What I fear
I can imagine the unpleasant existence that VM is experiencing in jail.  Some jails are annoying and some are hell-holes.  I wonder how well VM's appointed attorney is representing him.  I also fear that drugs may be forced on VM..... and even worse he gets routed to a mental facility where it is in their vested interest to hold him forever.   Recently I read about a kid around ten years old who was being mis-diagnosed with ASD who now may graduate from college at age 14. ==>  http://ow.ly/t3dIP
I have heard that the FBI is investigating... I hope they monitor for possible civil rights abuses of VM.

2014m01d29 update   more worries
I am worried about prosecutorial mis-conduct.   see here http://jonathanturley.org/2014/01/29/seventh-circuit-rules-prosecutor-can-be-sued-for-abusive-investigation-and-misconduct/
It is the duty of the prosecutor to apply laws fairly and uniformly.  It is the duty of the police and the prosecutor to collect all the evidence and weigh it fairly.  It is the duty of government employees to serve the people and not themselves.
It is the duty of the mayor of Altoona to avoid using inflammatory comments to serve himself and predjudice a legal action.
It is the duty of the media to make a determined effort to get at the truth .... and not merely try to sell ad space.
It is the duty of the jail custodians to treat prisoners as human beings.
It is the duty of the medical profession "to do no harm" and avoid using a human being as a means to an end.  ( I refer particularly to mental health professionals )
Public Defenders are often over-burdened and do not do a good job.  See here

2014m02d09 update    Too much hysteria  examples:
suspicious package         owl.li/ta9i3
railroad example
Mayfield must be a terrorist

Vlad is getting the shaft.

Thank you to Christopher B. Brown ( Pittsburgh )  for your defense efforts
This is so ridiculous ...... GovThugs are uncaring.

I appreciate any advice on how to reach more people... How to more effectively help VM. I have a petition here.

  1. February 2014 issue of Esquire. Note from editor-in-chief David Granger introducing Esquire's "Weird Men" issue: apart from the curious filter of 'American boys', Granger (and the Esquire articles editor Ryan D'Agostino) would be good to contact about Vladislav Miftokhov.
What happens to Vlad is an even creepier version of contemporary reaction to 'weirdness' (such as medication for ADHD). Granger writes, "More and more . . . the culture, the system, the establishment, the rules and regulations, us, the bastards—are determined to squeeze the weirdness out of boys before it has the chance to be channeled into something productive. We're raising boys defensively now, trying to medicate away their quirks and their natural rambunctiousness. Boys do stupid shit on a one-off basis; we need to see misbehavior for what it is—growing up—rather than automatically take it as evidence that they're future mall shooters."
Also . . . "Articles editor Ryan D'Agostino has been investigating the drugging of American boys, and in the months ahead we'll be writing about that and other issues surrounding American boys."
Dostoyevsky's CRIME AND PUNISHMENT was published in 1866. 1866 was a long time ago, when it was still fashionable to pair together 'punishment' and 'crime'. In our more advanced cultural environment, the former 'pair' hardly know one another. How about an article investigating punishment of Vlad for the 'crime' of 'weirdness'?
