As you drive the nations ( USA ) highways and byways , you will notice that the posted speed limits reflect two agendas ..... #1 The master plan of ethereal traffic flow experts & #2 The desire of government to collect revenue.
As many of us know ... an expert is an unknown drip under pressure. Such pressure must have affected their minds because the speed limits posted by experts seem to bear no relationship to the road the limit is addressing. If we were to understand... then mayhap , we would be experts.
Suddenly , the speed limit drops to 20 MPH. The reason ? A photo radar van is lurking a possum toss further on. Or a law enforcement professional ( similar to an expert ) is waiting behind a bush. Suddenly , you find yourself owing the government a substantial sum of money. All to protect some chilluns that might dart into the street. I raised smart chilluns who know what a road contains. Perhaps Darwin's law should be allowed to operate in this situation.
If I were in charge, I would turn the determination of speed limits over to the IPP* swarm. These are your ordinary drivers who can figure out what a safe speed to drive is and that it changes as conditions change. Now all I have look for are the crazy drivers who deviate significantly from the IPP speed.
IF we did this, what we we do with all the unemployed experts and sign painters ? Perhaps they could be utilized to polish our cars.
