Many Americans are looney when it comes to sex

Many in America ( including many in the media ) seem obsessed with sex.  And they seem to have an obsession with sexual abuse and punishment.  If this group can link any kind of crime with sex ( or make sex a crime ) .... they simply quiver with desire to punish the infractioner.   They enter a mind state that I don't care to examine very closely.  There is an amazing fear of sex.  Of sex somehow permanently destroying a life.  One time an you are spoiled goods and mentally damaged... forever.

I don't share the desire to connect sex with anything other than pleasure.   I find sex pleasurable.  I don't think that a crime that also includes sex should be multiple times more heinous.  I am very dubious about statutory rape.  I do not think a sexual activity damages a human for the rest of their life ( regardless of the age ).  I have this position because I do not conflate sex and violence.   They may occur at the same time..... but they are not the same thing.  Nor is sex a power game .... although they may occur together.

The laws dealing with child pornography have aspects that are totally, totally insane.  It is incredible that one can go to prison for many years for looking at an image .... or possessing an image.

included sexually charged text messages and photos. At one time, she
also gave the boy alcoholic beverages. The jury recommended a sentence
of 32-1/2 years in prison, but the judge reduced it to 21 years. Her
lawyer, David L. Scyphers, pointed out that, had Klewer actually had
sex with the student, her sentence would not have been as long.

hereby disproved.

Note that a non-violent offender was given 32.5 years by a jury.... reduced to 21 years. Expensive, insanely punitive , vindictive ... I am sorry I was not on the jury. I would have voted for acquittal.  ( and I have been a juror on a trial for sex related charges.  It ended in a hung jury. )

 Notice that being a billionaire is irrelevant in this story.  Notice that the *victim* of the crime is being harassed by the court system.  Notice that the prosecutor ( and many of them are ) is abnormally and unfairly determined to impose a maximum sentence.
